Simpson Primary School
Simpson Primary School, at Wester Inch near Bathgate, was commissioned by West Lothian Council and is the first completed new school in West Lothian built in accordance with the terms and requirements of a Section 75 Agreement. In consultation with the Council, Holmes developed the school design from an outline brief to a detailed design solution. The internal design of spaces and room layouts will now form the briefing basis for further section 75 schools commissioned by WLC.
The school has been planned in 2 phases: phase one accommodation comprises a teaching wing with naturally ventilated classrooms, recessed cloakroom areas, a nursery, dedicated community meeting facilities and changing accommodation for the community playing fields. Phase 2 will add an additional 7 classrooms with supporting facilities.
