Holmes’ reputation as a leading designer of custodial projects has been strengthened by the recent announcement by Scottish Prison Service (SPS) that Carillion has been awarded the contract to design and construct the new HMP Low Moss facility in East Dunbartonshire. Holmes is Architect and Lead Consultant on the project, providing design services to Carillion for the provision of a 700-cell prison and associated infrastructure.
Project Partner Allan Quinn of Holmes said: “Holmes is very excited by the opportunity to strengthen our successful working relationship with Carillion and the Scottish Prison Service on this major project. We have extensive experience and success in designing custodial projects in Scotland, providing bespoke architectural solutions that meet the SPS’s vision and objectives of delivering high-quality modern facilities that provide safe, efficient and humane living and working environments and offer value for money for the taxpayer.”
Work on site is expected to start later this year on completion of the planning process with East Dunbartonshire Council, and the new prison is expected to become operational in 2012.
