110 Saint Vincent Street has won a High Commendation in the Glasgow Institute of Architects Design Awards 2007. The award was presented on Friday 16 November at Oran Mor, Glasgow.
Gerry Grams, chairman of the judging panel said:
"The judges congratulated the architects on a sympathetic but contemporary approach to dealing with the conversion of this iconic building in the city centre. The main banking hall on the ground floor is surely one of Glasgow’s finest spaces, and with the addition of a minimalist glass rooftop floor, creates a truly innovative headquarters building to rival anything in the IFSD."
110 St Vincent Street was completed in the heart of Glasgow's commercial district almost exactly 80 years after the original building first opened its doors for business.
Boasting a Grade 'A' listed façade and original banking hall, 110 St Vincent Street is now a prestigious 9-storey office building. Behind the elegant classical exterior, the existing lavishly-detailed ground floor banking hall has been 100% retained with new floors added above, including an innovative additional rooftop floor with terrace.
